Along with Rufus Ogundele, Afolabi is one of the original, leading oil painters in Osogbo. Using a paint brush and a roller on a thin paper, he creates humorous characters filled with humane expressions. abasing his works on the white of the paper, even the oil that eventually smears out of the paint exists as part of his works.
